One of the beautiful things about the Olympics is watching the triumph of the human spirit. Watching athletes dedicate time and effort to achieving the gold is inspiring. It was also great to see planning for wheelchair access, as the country has been under increased criticism. Over 750,000 wheelchair users live in the UK.

@AccessAdvocates reported on accessibility planning and outcomes at the games.

From Rotech’s Q2 earnings emerged an interesting tidbit. The effect of pre/post-pay audits caused $3.6mm of Rotech patients to be moved into non-billable status. Two other Q2 results caught my eye; 1) over the first six months of 2012, Rotech purchased $2.5 million in new and used rental equipment, inventory and intangible assets from competitors exiting the HME market, 2) Rotech’s 10-Q stated “we expect that we will continue to evaluate and explore strategic alternatives and opportunities as they may arise, including potential acquisitions, business combination transactions, strategic partnerships or similar transactions.” I expect to see some of this in Q4, as HME owners may sell out before potential capital gains increase in January.
